La Dune des Songes

Stopping off at "La Dune des Songes" is a true return to basics...

A place where the sweetness of life reigns, punctuated only by the coming and going of the Vezo fishermen's pirogues, their multicolored sails gliding across the ocean.

The Vezo are one of the last nomadic ethnic groups in Madagascar. Fishing far from their villages, they bivouac on the dunes during their journey.

We are here, on their azure blue path...

"La Dune des Songes" is located in southwest Madagascar, near the town of Tuléar in the small village of Anakao, accessible only by boat. The ecolodge is nestled in the heart of 8 hectares of dunes on 500 meters of beach.

It consists mainly of five bungalows, offering exceptionally intimate accommodations facing the ocean. Here, far from any pollution, you'll hear only the wind in the canoes' sails before witnessing the spectacle, at night, of a starry sky of unparalleled purity: an invitation to dream...

"In search of simplicity, authenticity, and gentleness, I settled here." Amandine, your host, to my great joy.

Our Commitments

I wanted to create this little paradise with respect for both people and the environment. In Madagascar, recycling remains a challenge, but we make it a point to limit the purchase of non-recyclable materials, especially plastic, as much as possible.

Almost all of our cleaning products are made from natural ingredients, directly at La Dune des Songes.

We have also chosen solid, natural soaps without polluting packaging, which we make available to our customers. They are made by the AMADEA association, which has been working for years for child protection, rural development, and environmental preservation.

Our eco-responsible approach also includes waste management: we make our own compost from food scraps and use wastewater to water the garden. Thanks to Anakao's generous sunshine, we are completely self-sufficient in electricity, produced by a photovoltaic solar generator that also heats the water, approximately 300 days a year.

To reduce our plastic footprint and protect our health, we have invested in a reverse osmosis system, which purifies the mains water. However, plastic bottles are still available as an alternative to our existing supply to ensure optimal comfort for our visitors.

Finally, La Dune des Songes was built entirely with local materials. The stone walls help combat the massive deforestation that is plaguing Madagascar, and the roof, made of vundro, a local straw, provides natural insulation.

Most of the materials were transported by canoe, in keeping with our commitment to sustainable tourism.

Association « Anjely Kely »

Creating this eco-lodge without a community initiative would have been unthinkable for me. This is how the "Anjely Kely" association was born, a project particularly close to my heart, also supported by my two childhood sweethearts, Fanny and Swann.

The association's goal is to educate the children of the village of Anakao and contribute to improving educational standards, a major challenge in Madagascar. We collaborate with "Teach For Madagascar" (TFM), an extraordinary NGO dedicated to education, which mobilizes, recruits, and trains young volunteers to support Malagasy schools. Thanks to this collaboration, we are strengthening our commitment to the education of the children of Anakao.

Over time, the association will evolve to meet the concrete needs of the community. Its operations will be primarily supported by La Dune des Songes, in a spirit of sustainable and responsible engagement.

Your Host

Born in Paris but adopted from the Île de Ré, I've always found my balance by the sea. From the West Indies to Madagascar, via Tahiti, the DRC, Greece, Senegal, and Reunion Island, I've built my life with my eyes fixed on the ocean.

Self-taught and curious, I explored several professions before dedicating myself to La Dune des Songes, notably interior design. Kitesurfer, surfer, diver, and yogini, Anakao quickly became a natural fit. In love with this place, its inhabitants, and the surrounding nature, I poured all my soul and passion into creating La Dune des Songes, a refuge that blends simplicity, authenticity, and the sweetness of life.
